Due to a two vehicle collision, on the northbound side of the carriageway near Bridgwater, there were significant delays on the M5 motorway in Somerset earlier today.
The collision resulted in a fire, which affected both vehicles and had to be put out by firefighters.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said,
“Two fire engines were sent from Bridgwater to the scene.”
Crews got to work extinguishing the blaze using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets.
Police also attended the scene. The incident happened in the third lane of the M5.
Although the fire was quickly extinguished, and traffic was released, lanes two and three remained closed for some time.
